Marie Northrop's Spanish-Mexican Families Vol 1

It's of great historical value; especially to the descendants of the early "Californio" families and to history itself.
However, one shouldn't be robbed out of $443.50 to obtain a copy. Other avenues sell them for about $30.00 each. Of which, is more reasonable. Though, I located my copy at a thrift shop, in mint condition for $2.00. I should have bought Vol 2 as well, at that bargain price; though I didn't require it.
Do note: Some of those families married Americans ... their names are mentioned too. Some of those Americans changed their own names ie: John Forster became Juan Forster.
One thing further; the book doesn't say this, but I've discovered that most all Spanish descent names are found within the Oficios of Spain as being Sephardic; of which is of a Spaniard Jewish decent. 3,500 names are found on one list ... from the days of the Inquisition. There were 3 names, and I was checking many, that weren't on the list: Miramontes, Llamas and Noriega. There were many others I couldn't even recognize as having ever seen in writing; just different.
Not every Spaniard was out to conquer the new world ... they were forced to convert, imprisioned, tortured until they did and or exiled. All in the name of the King/Queen/Catholic Church as if they spoke for God himself. It wasn't just Spain, Portual, Peru and other countries also did such things, in the name of the church. Some refused to convert; they were burned alive with much pomp and circumstance as done with crowds the Romans had when feeding someone to the lions ... here's to religion, eh?
